Overview

Uttar Pradesh, in northern India, is the country’s most populous state, bordered by Nepal to the north and several Indian states including Uttarakhand, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand. The Ganga and Yamuna rivers flow through its fertile plains, making it a hub of agriculture, spirituality, and heritage.

The state’s climate ranges from subtropical in the lower hills to alpine in the high mountains.

• Monsoon (July–September): Heavy rainfall brings relief to the heat.
• Winter (November–February): Mild to cool, ideal for tourism, with temperatures ranging from 8°C–20°C (46°F–68°F).

Cultural & Historical Significance

Home to cities like Varanasi, Ayodhya, Agra, and Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh is a center of Hindu, Buddhist, and Mughal heritage. It is the birthplace of Lord Rama and Lord Krishna, and the land where Buddha delivered his first sermon in Sarnath. The state is also known for Awadhi cuisine, classical music, and intricate Chikankari embroidery.
